Liberal arts and sciences programs that the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences implement are divided into the following categories: Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Foreign Languages, Informatics, Health and Sports, College Life and Career Supports, Interdisciplinary Sciences, Small-Group Seminars. In each category, a wide variety of courses, from basic to advanced, are offered. In liberal arts and sciences programs, students are expected to learn autonomously, sequentially, and systematically from predecessors about ways of developing ideas, knowledge and technique. Peer interaction is expected in classes since it is an important way of sharing perspectives in order to help students to acquire a nuanced and sophisticated view of phenomena.
