Italian Film Club 1. Italian Language and Culture (Elementary to Intermediate)

This course will allow the students to watch and discuss some of the most exciting Italian movies. It will provide the tools for listening authentic, vivid conversations in Italian in different situations.

Through cinema, students will learn about some of the most intriguing aspects of Italian culture, familiarizing themselves with the lexicon of everyday life and expanding their vocabulary.

Also, in order to improve pronunciation and fluency, and to acquire a good command of the Italian language in its oral production, the students will be asked to memorize some key dialogues and lines from the movies. Then, in small groups, they will be asked to perform them in class, also involving emotion, body language (particularly gestures) and facial expressions, which are extremely important to communicate in Italian.

We will watch movies in Italian, with Japanese (or English) subtitles.

Students will use mainly Italian to interact during classes. They will learn to manage the fundamental communication functions, understanding and producing simple - oral and written - Italian texts. They will become familiar with the conversation on essential daily life topics. They will demonstrate awareness of basic grammatical structures and vocabulary. They will deepen their knowledge of Italian culture. They will be able to watch and discuss movies in Italian.

2-14: Italian Film Club: Screening and commentary on some of the most exciting Italian movies.

Conversation based on movie scenes or central topics of Italian culture that appear in the movies, including sport, politics, music, and cinema.

Discovering Italy 1. Italian Language and Culture (Elementary to Intermediate)


Through a number of authentic dialogues in Italian, the course aims to provide the tools for conversation in different situations and on various topics, including but not limited to travel, music, literature, cinema, food, and sport.

In this journey, students will learn how to grasp the key points in an authentic conversation between two or more Italians, and, through some group role-playing activities, they will learn how to communicate effectively in Italian. They will also have many chances to learn about some of the most exciting aspects of Italian culture, between tradition and innovation, familiarizing themselves with the lexicon of everyday life, travel, and leisure.

Therefore, they will acquire confidence in listening authentic spoken Italian, and they will achieve a solid command of the Italian language in its written and oral production, expanding their vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and strengthening grammatical and syntactic skills.

Students will use Italian to interact during classes. They will learn to manage the fundamental communication functions, understanding and producing simple - oral and written - Italian texts. They will become familiar with the conversation on essential daily life topics and cultural matters. They will become able to listen and comprehend authentic dialogues in Italian. 2-13: Discover Italy: our journey will take the students into some particular situations: trips throughout Italy, a night at the restaurant, experiences in other European countries, organizing schedules with friends, prepare parties, and so on. Many elements of Italian culture, such as art, sport, literature, food, fashion, music and entertainment will be introduced during the course.

この授業では、イタリア語Iで学習した文法に加え、いくらかの新しい文法事項を確認したあと、リーディング用の教科書を用いてイタリア語の平易な文章の講読を行う。
文法の理解を基礎に、イタリア語の文章を自ら読み進められる読解力を身につけるとともに、テクストで説明されるイタリア文化について理解を深めるのが目的である。

イタリア語の直説法の動詞の活用の定着、比較級や受動態、非人称などの文法事項の習得をもとに、平易な文章を自ら読み進められるようになる。
イタリア語とイタリア文化について理解を深める。

学期前半はイタリア語Iで使用した教科書、講読用教科書の解説、および補助プリントを用いて文法事項を学ぶ。
後半は講読用教科書の中盤の文章を練習問題を解きつつ読んでゆく。2回で1課ほどのペースで進む予定である。

イタリアの文学・美術・映画・歴史・社会・料理などに関連する様々なジャンルの短いテクストを順に読んでいく。初回を除き、事前にテクスト（プリント）を配布する。

第1回：授業の内容の説明をした後、最初のテクストについて解説する。読解にも取り掛かる。
第2-14回：1-2回の授業で1つのテクストを読み終わる予定で進む。テクストは、参加者の様子を見ながら選択、配布する。

授業への参加を重要視し、成績は、平常点50％と定期試験（筆記）50％の配分で評価する。
平常点として、特に予習（テクストの読解や文法解釈）の取り組みや発音などをチェックするので、必ず予習をし、テクストの朗読音源があればそれを聞いてくること。
成績評価基準は、授業中にさらに詳しく説明する。

辞書で語彙を調べ、指定された箇所を読んでくること。その場ですぐに和訳できればよく、きれいな「訳文」を用意する必要はない（用意しないほうがよい）。
どうしてもわからない文もあると思うが、その場合は意味不明な訳をつけて投げ出すのではなく、１年次の教科書・プリント等も参照しながら、何がどのようにわからないのか説明できる（主語が不明、動詞が見つからない、などが言語化できる）程度までは考え抜いてほしい。
また、テクストの朗読音源がある場合はそれを聞き、音読の練習もした上で授業に臨むのが望ましい。
