「東アジア社会」についての理解を深めることを目的に、京都大学、国立台湾大学、ソウル大学の社会学科・社会学専修が共同で実施する授業であり、今年度は12年目となる。学期中の授業では、東アジア社会について３大学の教員が交替でスカイプ授業を行う。その後、京都、台北、ソウルのいずれかでワークショップとフィールドトリップを実施する（今年度はソウル）。ワークショップでは、３大学から参加した学生が、各自の関心にしたがって英語で研究発表を行う。ホスト校の学生は、その社会をさまざまな角度から知ってもらうためのフィールドトリップを企画して実施する。
国際的な遠隔授業と英語ワークショップの組合せという、全国にも類例のない授業であり、近隣の諸社会との共通性と相違を身をもって理解し、グローバルな活動経験を積む機会となる。国境を越えた友人ができることも楽しい収穫となるだろう。何年か続けて受講して3都市を回るリピーターも歓迎する。

(１)東アジア社会、とりわけ台湾や韓国に関する文献を読み、講義を受け、フィールドトリップに参加することで、東アジアに関する全般的かつ経験的理解を深める。
(２)国立台湾大学、ソウル大学の学生たちとの直接の交流を通じて、隣国の同世代の人たちの関心、考え方、実力を知り、交流を深める。
(３)英語のプレゼンテーションを行い、質問の受け答えができるようになる。

英語での受講と研究発表に最低限必要な学力、もしくはチャレンジ精神をそなえていることが求められる。

各講義につき論文1本程度をあらかじめ読んでくる。各自の関心にしたがって発表資料を作成する。

　フランス革命前後の時期にあたる1784-1790年に、ドイツの国法学者フリードリヒ・カール・フォン・モーザーが編纂したパトリオティズム（愛国主義）に関する論集をドイツ語で読み、当時のドイツ人が「ドイツ」「国民」「愛国」といった観念についてどのような考えを持っていたのかを学びます。
　愛国主義やナショナリズムは現代でも重要なテーマですが、「国民」という概念が現在のような意味で用いられるようになったのは、18世紀以降、特にフランス革命以降のことです。このとき、近代的な国家制度を確立したフランスとは異なり、ドイツはまだ統一国家を持っていませんでした。そのような時代に、ドイツの著作家はどのような問題に直面し、何を求め、何を批判したのか。実際に18世紀に書かれた歴史的なテクストを読むことで、ドイツの歴史的な事情について学ぶとともに、当時の人々の思考法を理解することを目指します。
　授業ではおもにドイツ語文献を精読します。担当者が訳文を作成し、それを共有して検討する形式にする予定です。進度は参加者の習熟度に応じて調整します。また、ご自身の研究内容についてレジュメを作って発表してもらいます。本演習には様々な分野の院生が参加してくれるはずですので、質疑応答を通じて専門外の人とも意見を交換することができます。ドイツの歴史社会や思想史に関心がある人、ドイツ語テクストを読むことに慣れたい人を広く歓迎します。

ドイツ語が読めること。とはいえ解説はゆっくり丁寧におこなうので、初級文法の知識があり、自ら学ぶ姿勢があれば歓迎します。
本科目は半期授業ですが、いわゆる「ゼミ」のような形で運営しますので、後期科目「文芸表象論演習２」も合わせて受講することをおすすめします。もちろん、半期の受講も可能です。

平常点（各回の発言や和訳等）70％、レポート30％として総合的に評価する。

ドイツ語のテクストを精読するため、授業前の準備が重要となる。

今日，文理の分野を問わず最先端の研究を進めていくには，大規模データの分析・管理技術が不可欠となっている．本講義では，コンピュータで問題を解くために必要なモデル化やアルゴリズムと，その情報検索への応用，データの管理およびデータから有用な情報や知識を発見するマイニング技術，情報の分析結果の可視化とインタラクション技術など，様々な分野で利用されているトピックを精選して講述する．特に，具体的な問題に対して，それらの技術をどのように適用できるかを学ぶことで，技術の基本的な考え方を理解し，各自の分野において，応用できるようになることを目
標とする．

【研究科横断型教育の概要・目的】
上述したように，大規模データの分析・管理技術はあらゆる分野の研究に必要とされている．本授業では，それらの技術の仕組みの基礎を理解するとともに，「情報分析・管理演習」と連携して，各自が具体的な問題に対して技術を実践できるレベルに到達することを目標としている．

講義全体の概要

・問題のモデル化と問題の解き方 (2回)
コンピュータで問題を解くために必要となる，問題のモデル化と，問題の解き方，すなわち，アルゴリズムについて学ぶ．具体的には，まず，グラフを用いたモデル化，アルゴリズムとその戦略（計算量，近似，動的計画など），情報検索に用いられるランキング手法 (PageRankやHITSなど)の応用について講述する．さらに，情報科学の他分野への応用について学ぶ．

・データマイニング (6回)
データを分析して，有用な情報や知識を発見するための手法について講述する．具体的には，データマイニング技術（アソシエーションルール，クラスタリング，決定木，サポートベクターマシン，深層学習など) と，そこで利用されている機械学習やベイズ推定の技術を学ぶ．

・データベース・情報検索・情報可視化(3回)
大規模な情報を管理するデータベース技術，大量の文書データから必要な情報を検索する技術，情報システムを利用者からのフィードバックに基づき改善する技術について，研究での応用事例も交えながら説明する．

・自然言語処理（3回）
自然言語を扱う技術について講述する。形態素解析などの文書解析基本技術、機械学習と大規模言語モデルにより機械翻訳や文書要約などのタスクに応用する技術を学ぶ．

- 「情報分析・管理演習」を，原則として受講すること．
- 各自のノートPC等の持ち込みを前提とする．

講義で扱った情報分析・管理技術の仕組みを理解し，具体的な問題に応用し，実際にその解を計算できるようになることが達成目標である．各回の出席状況，ならびに数回ごとに扱うテーマに基づいたレポートによって，この目標に到達しているかどうかを検証し，成績を算出する．

必要な場合は授業中に指定する．

- 前期・後期共に同一内容のリピート科目である．
- 自身の研究に，種類は問わず，何らかのデータを用いている学生を歓迎する．
- 単位を必要としない学生の聴講は，受講希望人数などにより，受け入れられないこともある．

熱現象はとても身近な現象であるが，熱を物理学的に記述することは容易ではない．現代的な熱の理解は，原子・分子のエネルギーだが，エントロピーを導入することで，こうしたミクロな自由度の詳細によらない普遍的な熱力学の体系が構成される．熱力学において中心的な役割を演じるエントロピーを理解するとともに，自然界における物理法則のなかで，最も基本的といえる熱力学第２法則を学ぶ．

熱に関係した状態量としてのエントロピーを理解し，熱力学第２法則のエントロピーを用いた定式化とその応用など，熱力学の基本的な体系を習得する．

熱平衡状態や示量変数といった熱現象を扱う上での基礎的事項を導入し，熱力学第１法則，熱力学第２法則を定式化し，熱力学の理論体系を学んでいく．熱力学において中心的な役割を演じるエントロピーを理解し，熱力学の応用について学ぶ．以下の順序で講義を進める．授業回数はフィードバックを含め全15回とし，各項目について1~4回の講義を行う.

1. はじめに
講義で学ぶ熱力学について，高校で学んだ内容にふれながら概観する．

2. 理想気体の熱力学と状態量としてのエントロピー
まず，理想気体に限定して，熱力学第1法則や熱機関の効率の問題を説明する．無限小過程において，熱量は不完全微分だが温度で割ることで完全微分にすることができる．このようにして導入される状態量としてのエントロピーを説明し，理想気体のエントロピーの具体的な表式を導出する．

3. 普遍的な熱力学の体系と熱力学第２法則
一般的な系について熱力学の体系を構築していく．熱力学がどのような系を対象とするかについて述べた後，示量変数，内部エネルギー，示強変数，準静的過程等を定義し，熱力学第2法則について説明する．熱機関の最大効率の問題に関して，カルノーサイクルが最大の効率をもつことを示し，クラウジウスの不等式を介して，一般的な系におけるエントロピーを導入する．種々の熱力学関数を導入して，様々な条件下での熱平衡条件について説明する．

4. 熱力学の応用
熱力学の応用として，ファン・デル・ワールス状態方程式の導出と気体の液化条件，多成分系における化学反応での質量作用の法則の導出，ゴムの熱力学などについて説明する．

5. 相転移
相転移の分類と1次相転移における潜熱，強磁性の2次相転移，気体-液体相転移について説明する．

受講者は「物理学基礎論Ａ」(力学)を履修していることが望ましいが，１回生前期に並行して受講することも可能である．偏微分など講義で必要とする数学については適宜，補足する．

レポート課題（50点）およびPandA上で実施するオンラインテスト（50点）によって評価する．

講義内容を復習し，よくわからない点については他の受講生と議論したり，教員へ質問するなど，内容の理解に努めること．

Nowadays, research in many fields of science is increasingly dependent on large amounts of data. The key problem is how to turn this data into new knowledge. This course covers a wide variety of data analysis and machine learning approaches. The course starts with an introduction of the basic concepts in machine learning. After that, we will introduce regression and classification methods, including linear models, tree-based methods, support vector machines, neural networks, deep learning, and principal component analysis.

Students will learn about basic concepts in data analysis and statistical learning, such as regression and classification problems, and supervised and unsupervised machine learning. Students will become familiar with strengths and weaknesses of several approaches, and learn how to apply them on real datasets.

Lectures 1 to 3. Introduction to data analysis and machine learning: We will discuss data analysis in the context of scientific investigation. Using several examples, the concepts of supervised and unsupervised learning, regression and classification problems, and assessment of model accuracy will be introduced.

Lectures 4 and 5. Linear regression: Introduction to linear regression as a simple supervised learning approach. We will cover simple and multiple linear regression, discuss how to interpret models, and compare linear regression with K-nearest neighbors.

Lectures 6 and 7. Classification methods. We will introduce classification methods, including logistic regression, linear discriminant analysis, and quadratic discriminant analysis. We will discuss the differences between them, and their strong and weak points.

Lectures 8 and 9. Model assessment: We will introduce several approaches for evaluating the accuracy of models, including cross-validation and bootstrapping.

Lecture 10. Tree-based methods: Focussing on decision trees, we will introduce tree-based methods for regression and classification. After that, we will cover more advanced methods, such as Bagging, Random Forests, and Boosting.

Lecture 11. Support Vector Machines (SVMs): We will introduce maximal margin classifiers, and use this as a base to exploring SVMs.

Lecture 12: Neural networks and deep learning.

Lecture 13: Unsupervised learning: Introduction to unsupervised learning problems. We will introduce Principal Component Analysis, K-means clustering, and hierarchical clustering.

最新かつ最先端の有益な情報を入手するため欠くことのできない英語の知識や言語取得をそれぞれの将来の必要性（Need Analysis）に基づき、学びまた体得できる機会を提供する。
行動変容は医療分野だけでなく様々な分野で使用されている。英語を読みながら、自分なりに例を考え、しっかりと内容を理解する。英語の配布資料も提供し、短時間でいかに内容把握でき、英語でまとめて発表することを可能にする授業とする。

毎回できる限りinteractiveに英語を読み、理解し、話す機会を提供する。単なる訳読力を養うだけではなく、内容にこだわり現状等をかいまみる機会をつくりながら、リーディング力を伸ばすことを行う。教科書や配布資料等を読解しながら、summaryを英語で発表、また、一般なトピックに関するディスカッションを行うことで、英語運用力を高める授業を実施する。

Academic writing & listening

For the development of students' skills in English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP), English Writing-Listening A (EWLA) consists of three components: writing, listening, and vocabulary.

For practice with writing, students identify, recognize, or understand basic elements of academic writing and, then, recall and apply this knowledge in the process of organizing and revising a short academic essay of at least 300 words. Under the guidance of the instructor they learn necessary foundational academic writing skills as stated in the Course Goal section below.

For practice with listening, students take the online course known as GORILLA (Global Online Resources for International Language Learning Assistance) outside class. They are assessed on their listening proficiency through weekly online assignments, as well as the four tests that the instructor administers in class.

For vocabulary learning, students use the standard reference book titled “Kyoto University Vocabulary Database 1110.” Like the listening component, students independently study words from the general academic list that the instructor assigns (usually 50 words a week) and are tested on a number of these words weekly.

By the end of this course, students will acquire the following skills at varying levels. Students should be able to:
- Recognize and use basic academic words in English
- Process general academic discourse presented aurally
- Identify the locations, functions, and features of the standard elements of essay introduction paragraphs (i.e., hook, topic statements, general statements and thesis statement) and apply this knowledge to write suitable introduction paragraphs for short academic essays
- Identify the locations, functions, and features of the standard elements of body paragraphs (i.e., topic sentence, supporting sentences, detail sentences, concluding sentence) and apply this knowledge to write suitable body paragraphs for short academic essays
- Identify the locations, functions, and features of the standard elements of conclusion paragraphs (i.e., summary of main points, final statement) and apply this knowledge to write suitable conclusion paragraphs for short academic essays
- Recognize basic methods of maintaining the unity (e.g., definitions) and coherence (e.g., transitional words) of ideas in short academic essays, and apply this knowledge to writing.
- Recall and apply basic conventions (e.g., punctuation) when formatting short academic essays
- Understand basic paraphrasing techniques (e.g., using synonyms, changing structure) to integrate information from external sources, recognize basic citation conventions, and utilize this knowledge to avoid plagiarism
- Understand the writing process and utilize it for drafting and editing to produce short academic essays
- Combine knowledge of (i) the structure of a short academic essay, with allowances made for rhetorical style such as problem-solution and argumentation, and (ii) the writing process, and apply this knowledge to produce a short academic essay of at least 300 words

For the development of students' skills in English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP), English Writing-Listening A (EWLA) consists of three components: writing, listening, and vocabulary.

For practice with writing, students identify, recognize, or understand basic elements of academic writing and, then, recall and apply this knowledge in the process of organizing and revising a short academic essay of at least 300 words. Academic writing & listening

For the continued development of students' skills in English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP), English Writing-Listening B (EWLB) consists of three components: writing, listening, and vocabulary. EWLB aims to advance the skills in EGAP that students learned in EWLA.

For practice with writing, students analyze and evaluate basic elements of academic writing they learned in EWLA; they further identify, recognize, or understand more advanced elements; finally, they recall and apply all acquired knowledge in the process of producing an academic report of at least 1,000 words. By writing substantial academic reports more autonomously, students will acquire advanced academic writing skills as stated in the Course Goal section below.

For practice with listening, students take the online course known as GORILLA (Global Online Resources for International Language Learning Assistance) outside class. They are assessed on their listening proficiency through weekly online assignments, as well as the four tests that the instructor administers in class.

For vocabulary learning, students use the standard reference book titled “Kyoto University Vocabulary Database 1110.” Like the listening component, students independently study words from the general academic list that the instructor assigns (usually 50 words a week) and are tested on a number of these words weekly.

By the end of this course, students will acquire the following skills at varying levels. Students should be able to:
- Recognize and use basic academic words in English
- Process more advanced academic discourse presented aurally
- Analyze topics and develop suitable controlling ideas, thesis statements, and outlines for academic reports
- Analyze and evaluate the locations, functions, and features of the standard paragraph-level elements of an academic report (i.e., introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs) and apply the analysis and evaluation when writing academic reports
- Analyze and evaluate the locations, functions, and features of the standard sentence-level elements (e.g., thesis statement, topic sentences, support sentences) and apply the analysis and evaluation when writing academic reports
- Recognize more advanced methods of maintaining the unity (e.g., repetition of key points) and coherence (e.g., quality of language) of ideas in academic reports, evaluate the unity and coherence of their writing, and apply the analysis and evaluation when writing.
- Utilize, with sufficient accuracy, a broad range of citation conventions when formatting academic reports
- Understand more advanced paraphrasing techniques to integrate information from external sources (e.g., summarizing, quoting), recognize and use more detailed citation conventions, and utilize this knowledge to avoid plagiarism
- Evaluate and integrate supporting evidence and sources to produce an academic report.
- Recognize the formatting conventions of an appropriate reference list and apply this knowledge to generate one for an academic report.
- Recognize particular styles and conventions within academic writing and adopt them appropriately
- Acquire a deeper understanding of the writing process in the production of academic reports after revising drafts with feedback

簡単な読みもの、作文、やさしい会話、ビデオ教材の使用などを通して、ドイツ語を話す人々の文化や思考法を知ることを目的とします。

演習クラスのため、基本的な文法について解説だけに留めることがあります。読解箇所は予め担当者を決めることはしません。全員が訳読を準備しておく必要があります。会話練習では、教科書にある例文を参考にして、クラス内で他のクラスメートとドイツ語を使った簡単なやりとりをしてもらいます。

・　簡単なドイツ語のテキストが、辞書を引きながら読めるようになることを目標とします。

・　各課で扱う表現を用いた簡単なやり取りをドイツ語を使ってできるようになることを目標とします。

・　易しいドイツ語で書かれた文書の読解を通じて、ドイツ語圏の文化についての見識を得ることを目標とします。

発音から動詞の 3 基本形まで、下記項目順に一通り学びます。

1.　発音の原則、挨拶の基本的な表現
2.　Lektion 1：動詞の現在人称変化
3.　Lektion 2：名詞と冠詞の格変化、名詞の複数形
4.　Lektion 3：不規則変化動詞の現在人称変化、命令形、人称代名詞

6.　Lektion 5：前置詞の格支配
7.　Lektion 6（前半）：話法の助動詞・未来形
8.　Lektion 7（前半）：動詞の三基本形

*　Lektion 6,7,9は、扱う文法の範囲により教科書の順番とは異なる順番で授業を行います。

各項目について 1~2 回の授業で取り組む予定です。

授業はフィードバック日を含み 15 回行います。

*　各授業回においては、基本的な文法確認と併せて、各課で扱う表現を用いた簡単な会話練習と読解練習を主に行います。

予習・復習が必要です。各回の授業ではテキストの和訳と練習問題を課しますので、毎回授業で扱う範囲については予習を行っておいてください（予め、担当箇所を指定することはしません）。
