哲学という学問は、その対象に比較的制限のない学問であり、およそ私たちの身の回りの多くのものがその研究対象となる。むしろ、身近なものにこそ、重要な問題が含まれていると言ってよい。つまり、私たちが持っている既成概念を、そのまま既成のものとしてうけとらず、改めて再検討しつづけることが重要なのである。というのも、思想を始めとして学問の進歩とは、多くの場合、既成概念や慣習化した権威を、無条件に正しいものとして受け取らないことによって行われてきたからである。また、私たちが社会で生きていく上でも、常に自分自身で物事をとらえ直そうとする姿勢は、思考力の向上につながり、より豊かな発想を生み出す源になると考えられる。

　この講義では、私たちの身近な事柄にかんする哲学的な問題をとりあげ、それがどのようなものかを解説し、自らが思考するための第一歩へとつなげることを狙いとする。

前半では、身近なテーマを用いることにより、普段、当然のように考えている概念がいかなるものであるのかを考察することで、常に深く考える思考力を身につける。

哲学の身近な実践的な問題と理論的な問題の二つを前半(1-9)回と後半(10-14回）に分けて取り上げる。

前半では、動物の道徳的地位について考える。
後半では、自由意志の問題について考える。

回数は理解などによって変更される。基本的には動物の道徳的地位の話の方がメインとなる。

Introduction to Ethics

What is it to be a good person? What is it to act well or badly? How do our beliefs concerning these matters relate to other beliefs that we hold? How can we answer practical questions concerning what to do, and can there be better or worse thinking when it comes to such matters? In this course we will consider these and related questions, by looking at a series of debates in anglophone philosophy after the second world war around the nature of ethics and its claim to rational authority. These debates played a key role in shaping the landscape of modern Western culture. As well as considering the philosophical dimensions of these issues, we will also consider in passing how cultural critics and poets reacted to the sense of crisis and loss of moral authority that was felt at the time.

At the end of the course students will have an introduction to contemporary philosophizing about value, and will have developed a better understanding of the complex nature of practices of evaluation. Students will also leave with an understanding of the key figures in post war British philosophy and the points of contrast between them.

No prior of knowledge of philosophy is assumed. Lectures will be given in a traditional style, primarily using handouts rather than powerpoint. Each class will be approximately 60-70 minutes of lecture time followed by Q and A or group discussion. Lectures will be recorded so that students can revise on their own after the class. Active participation in the lectures through questions or discussion is welcomed but is not required.

A good level of English comprehension (listening, reading and writing) is necessary for this course. No previous knowledge of philosophy is presumed, though familiarity with the background concepts of the discipline will be an advantage. All texts will be provided in advance in English.

Assessment will be based on five quizzes (each worth 20% of the final grade), spread throughout the semester.

Students will be expected to read a short handout or text (1-2pp) in preparation for the lecture and will be tested on the contents of the reading / lecture via quizzes.

　ここで学ぶギリシア語は、古代地中海世界で連綿と使用され続け、西洋の古典として哲学・史学・文学の分野において極めて重要な作品群を生み出した古代のギリシア語である。

　ギリシア文学史の最盛期たる古典期にあたるのが紀元前5世紀・紀元前4世紀であり、この時期のアテナイを中心としたアッティカ地方で使用されていたギリシア語が、現代に生きる私たちが古代のギリシア語を学ぶ上で第一に規範とするべきものとなる。これをしっかりと身に付けることで、古代地中海世界におけるその他の時期・地域のギリシア語も読むことができるようになるのである。

　古代のギリシア語で書かれたテクストは、代表的なものだけでも、ホメロス、ヘシオドス、ピンダロス、アイスキュロス、ソポクレス、エウリピデス、アリストパネス、ヘロドトス、トゥキュディデス、プラトン、クセノポン、アリストテレス、プルタルコス、ルキアノス、プロティノス、新約聖書、七十人訳聖書など多岐に渡る。ギリシア語を学ぶにあたっては、こういった作家や作品のギリシア語表現を文法的に正確に理解できることが重要となる。

　このギリシア語A・ギリシア語Bでは、1年で一通りギリシア語の文法を学び終えて、辞書と文法書を頼りにギリシア語文献を独力で読めるようになることを目指す。

前期開講のギリシア語Aの到達目標は、ギリシア語の名詞変化・形容詞変化、動詞の直説法の変化について理解し、簡単なギリシア語の短文ならば読めるようになることである。

毎回、各課の練習問題のギリシア語和訳をしてくること。

ギリシア語の発音は、講師の発音をしっかりと聞き取りつつ、各自で何度か練習しておくこと。ギリシア語も語学なので声に出して読めるようにしなければならない。

教科書『ギリシア語入門』は、十分な情報量を備えるが、レイアウト面で見づらい点がある。それを補うものとして、授業では解説の為の資料と、教科書とはまた別の観点からの動詞の変化表を配布する。

後期開講のギリシア語Bも受講することが望ましい。

毎回提出してもらう小課題と定期試験の合計点で評価する。
小課題の点数は定期試験での失点を補うものとして機能する。

受講生は毎回、習った課の練習問題のギリシア語文を和訳をしてくること。
この際、ギリシア語文の個々の単語の文法的情報、すなわち名詞・形容詞ならば性・数・格、動詞ならば法・時称・態・人称/数を、必ず分かるようにしておくこと。
この文法的情報のメモがし易いように、練習問題の各文の行間を大幅にとったワークノート形式の資料を別途ダウンロード形式で配布する（自分でノートにギリシア語本文を書き写してもよい）。

このギリシア語A・ギリシア語Bは、人文・社会科学系科目群であるが、外国語科目群と同様に語学学習への強い目的意識をもって臨むことが肝要である。予習・復習には大幅に時間を使うことになるが、それこそがギリシア語を学ぶことの醍醐味である。

　この授業は、家族に関する法制度およびその背景にある基本的な考え方を学ぶとともに、現代社会における家族について考えるために必要な知識や視点を得ることを目的とする。
　家族の多様化、離婚や再婚の増加、生殖補助医療技術の進展、社会の高齢化などの社会の変化に伴い、現在、家族法にかかわる新たな課題が生じている。これらの課題に対し、家族に関する法がどのように応接すべきかを考察する手がかりとして、授業では、まず、家族に関する法制度の基本的構造とその背景を学び、さらに、現代的課題にどのようなアプローチの仕方がありうるかを検討する。
　授業では、民法の第4編「親族」・第5編「相続」が定める家族法に関する諸制度・諸規定を中心に、戸籍制度など関連法規・関連する諸制度についても、適宜取り上げる。
　

　日本の家族法（親族法・相続法）の基礎知識及び考え方を理解するとともに、社会における家族のあり方について考察する視点を得る。

家族に関する民法の諸制度・諸規定の内容、裁判例の解説を行うとともに、検討素材として具体的事例や現代的問題を、法改正の動向とともに紹介する。なお、以下のスケジュールは予定であり、授業の進行状況に応じて変更の可能性がある。

Social sciences, whose aim is an in-depth understanding of human behaviors, share with natural and engineering sciences a common "scientific frame", while having also specific and diverse research methodologies. Those methodologies are usually divided into quantitative and qualitative approaches. The qualitative approaches are presented in this lecture. We will see both how a research can be conduced from the building of a sound problematic to the final report writing, and how several well-known surveys produced knowledge about human behaviors.

This course aims to familiarize students with different qualitative research methods so as to develop their critical sense and ability in analyzing social, economic, and political issues presented and debated in the media, and in leading qualitative researches on their own. A great variety of researches will be exposed and discussed, as well as the construction of, and issues linked with each step of a qualitative research.

　グローバリゼーションがもたらす社会経済への変化について、歴史的・理論的に考察する。グローバリゼーションは、最近になって始まったものではなく、歴史上、何度か繰り返されている。とりわけ１９世紀末から２０世紀初頭にかけては、現在に匹敵する貿易や投資の拡大があったことが確認されている。この時代は同時に、金融危機が頻発した時代であり、国内格差が拡大した時代であり、大国が小国を支配する帝国主義の時代でもあった。この時代と現代の比較を通じて、現代のグローバル化が直面しているさまざまな課題について考えるのが、この講義の目的となる。

グローバリゼーションという切り口から現代の政治経済史を理解し直すと共に、経済学や経済思想についての基礎知識を身につける。

以下の論点を扱う。なお論点毎の回数は固定したものではなく、その時々の受講者の理解度や時事的状況の変化に応じて適宜、変更される。

（１）グローバル化とは何か【３回】
グローバル化は具体的にどのような経緯で進展してきたのか。時事問題を交えて解説する。

（２）グローバル化の歴史比較【４回】
貿易や投資が地球規模で活発になる現象は、歴史的に何度か繰り返されている。過去と比較した場合の、現代のグローバル化の特徴について考える。

（３）国家主権と民主主義【４回】
過去と現在の反グローバル化の動きは、どのような背景で起きたのか。ナショナリズムや保護主義の歴史と、最近のポピュリズム政治の台頭について解説する。

（４）グローバル化と国際政治【３回】
国家間の関係に経済グローバル化はどのような影響を与えているのか。一九世紀の帝国主義、二〇世紀の冷戦の歴史を振り返りつつ、現代のポスト冷戦期の国際秩序の再編について考える。
