Early application for ILAS Seminars

Schedule of early application for ILAS Seminars is indicated as follows.
The following shows the schedule of early application in first semester for undergraduate freshmen only. For the schedule in first semester for students in their 2nd-year or above and in second semester for all students, refer to “ILASセミナーの履修について” (Registration of ILAS Seminar) on Handbook of Liberal Arts and Sciences Course.

In order to avoid overlap the timetable between ILAS Seminars and other class designated courses, please confirm these days and periods, and then make an application for ILAS Seminars.

Application is accepted on the website “New Student’s Site” or KULASIS as follows in first semester.
For intensive seminars, 1st-year undergraduate students need an early application as scheduled below.

  • *1 1st-year undergraduate students are allowed to register for only one “ILAS Seminar (ILASセミナー)” in their first year, except in the case of “ILAS Seminar-E2” or “ILAS Seminar (Overseas)”. Carefully note that “ILAS Seminar (ILASセミナー)” are only offered in the first semester.
  • *2 ILAS Seminars with on-site or field training abroad are provided as “ILAS Seminar (Overseas)”. A student who would like to join the seminar must attend the information session in April. The details of the session are to be announced separately. However, there is a possibility that they may not be provided, taking into consideration to the spread of the new coronavirus infection and other overseas conditions.

Pre-registrations up to fifth choice are accepted. If applicants are over the expected capacity for 1st-year students of a course, a random lottery is conducted.

First-come, first-served application:

  • The lottery result is released in the afternoon of April 3.
  • The pre-registered seminar is displayed in his/her timetable of KULASIS “Class registration” page on April 4.
  • If not selected, they can sign up for a course which still has a placement on a first-come, first-served basis on KULASIS “ILAS Seminar” page.
  • It is NOT possible to change the seminar after applying for one seminar. In addition, students who have been selected for one seminar in the Pre-registration cannot participate in this first-come, first-served application process, even if they have cancelled the selected seminar from the timetable.
  • A maximum one course from ILAS Seminar (“ILASセミナー”) and ILAS Seminar-E2 will be pre-registered through the process until this stage.
  • Please note that once a pre-registered seminar has been cancelled from the timetable, it cannot be re-displayed.
  • Freshmen are allowed to apply for ILAS Seminar (“ILASセミナー”) including intensive course, and intensive “ILAS Seminar-E2” by the end of this period.
Afternoon of April 7 KULASIS
  • The course that is given permission in the first-come, first-served application period is displayed in the timetable.
  • ILAS Seminar-E2 courses which accept additional registrations on a first-come, first-served basis are to be announced.
(Classes begin on April 10.)

In the case that freshmen would like to register ILAS Seminar-E2 additionally, they can apply for that class via KULASIS “Class registration” page on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, students will not be allowed to apply at the first class.

If the number of applicants exceed the enrollment limit but a permitted student deletes the permitted course, an application is accepted on KULASIS in the 2nd/3rd first-come, first-served application periods following the period when the cancellation was made.

KULASIS Early registration does not mean the registration procedure is completed. As well as the other Liberal Arts and Sciences Course, you have to finalize the registration during class registration period and class registration confirmation/revision period.
